Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this unit converter?

Conversions use the exact SI-defined factors where one exists (inch = 25.4 mm exactly, pound = 0.45359237 kg exactly, etc.). Numerical precision is kept to roughly six significant figures in the display; internally it's full double precision.

Does this work offline?

Yes. The converter is a static web app — once the page is loaded, conversions run entirely client-side with no network calls. Keep the tab open or install it as a PWA to use on a plane.

Can I convert between metric and imperial?

Yes. Every category includes both metric and imperial units plus less common ones (nautical miles, stones, troy ounces, Rankine, inHg). Pick any From and To within a category.

Which categories are supported?

Length, weight, temperature, and pressure today. More are on the roadmap — open an issue if you want to request a category.

Do you save my conversions?

Only in your own browser's local storage, so you can re-run recent conversions. Nothing is sent to a server.
