Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a quote and an estimate?

A quote is a firm price commitment; an estimate is a best-guess that may change once work begins. This tool works for both — the document layout is identical; the language in your notes field is what sets expectations.

Do I need a signature block on a quote?

Not legally, but a signature block is common practice for anything above a few hundred dollars — a signed quote becomes a simple contract of engagement. This tool includes one by default.

How long should a quote be valid?

30 days is standard. Short-validity quotes (7–14 days) are common when material or labor costs are volatile. The valid-until date is shown prominently on the PDF so there's no ambiguity.

Can I turn an approved quote into an invoice?

Yes. Reuse your business and client details in the invoice tool; copy the line items across. The document number prefix changes from QT to INV — otherwise the paperwork looks identical to your client.

Is any data uploaded?

No. Everything stays in your browser — drafts, business details, logo. PDF rendering is local.
