Frequently asked questions
When should I issue a receipt vs an invoice?
An invoice is a request for payment; a receipt is proof that payment was received. Issue an invoice when work is completed and billed, and issue a receipt after the client pays. This tool includes both — and a third for quotes.
What has to be on a receipt?
Minimum: who issued it, who paid, the date, the amount, and what was paid for. For tax-deductible business expenses, include the payer's full name, the method of payment, and any applicable tax breakdown — all supported in this tool.
Can I use this for a reimbursement?
Yes. Issue a receipt to yourself (payee) for items you purchased on behalf of an employer, attach it to your expense report, and your finance team has everything they need.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Drafts and business details are stored only in your browser. PDF generation runs locally — nothing leaves your device.
Does the PDF have a 'Paid' stamp?
Yes. Every receipt is marked Paid automatically, so recipients can tell it apart from an unpaid invoice at a glance.
